There has been controversy over FISA reform linked to the appointment of former DOJ lawyer David Kris. Kris who represented Page in the investigation will assist with the restructuring of the FISA application process. This has left many with concerns about the FBI’s suitability to continue the process.
Who should reform FISA?
The FBI was not exonerated for their roll in the abuse. The agents were acquitted though Comey was not.
There is an additional concern that the FISA court should not be reforming itself. It would be more prudent if the Director of the FBI controlled the revisions of this kind.
FISA applications need to function for agents but also protect the constitutional rights of the individual. This makes the reform process tricky because the procedures should not hinder an agent’s ability to obtain the warrants they need.

Most of the former staff have been fired or have moved on to other ventures. Hopefully, the reformed FISA will mean more concise guidelines for the agents as well as better protection for the constitutional rights of individuals.
